"Jessica K.", oil on canvas, 24" x 18".

A commission portrait.

"Donna", oil on canvas, 24" x 20".

"Italian Lady", watercolor, 14" x 10.5".
Deep character lines are beloved of portrait artists (though not, of course, on ourselves).
I've done many watercolor studies at my local senior center.  Some of the sitters loved their portraits, some did not.  This unknown lady is unlikely to object to the realistic replication of her wrinkles, since she is from a photo that appeared in the New York Times.
I painted this on Japanese masa paper that had been soaked and then crumpled, to achieve the interesting background effect that I wanted.
But I'd never use this paper for a commission portrait;  it was just an experiment.

"Avraham and his First Grandson".  Oil on canvas, 12" x 9".
I love the way he and the baby are inspecting each other.
This is Avraham Inlender, a supremely talented artist and playwright, masterly raconteur, and a dear friend.  Sadly, he is no longer with us.

"Susanna", oil on canvas, 15" x 11.5".
An art school model.

The Intoxicated Art School Model, oil on canvas, 16.5" x 14.5".
Oil paintings are difficult to photograph, because of the shine on the varnish.
This model kept falling asleep, so I put a glass by his elbow and a brown bag on the floor.
